Cedar Point sex assault suits settled

SANDUSKY — Two civil lawsuits filed against Cedar Fair over sexual assault allegations at park dormitories were settled last week. At least three lawsuits have been filed within the past two years, all brought forth by former female employees at Cedar Point who lived in the Commons dorm. One suit alleged that company officials failed in their duty to the plaintiff from being sexually assaulted in the dorms. That suit further alleged that Cedar Fair "had been aware of several similar instances within their employee housing facilities." Prior to their trial dates, two of those lawsuits reached a settlement. A May 3 filing for dismissal for both cases states, "We, the attorneys for the respective parties, do hereby stipulate that this case is settled." The plaintiffs, who were represented by the same Mentor law firm, were asking for compensatory and consequential damages in excess of $25,000 as well as punitive damages. It is not known if the settlement included a payout to the plaintiffs. In the third case, Cedar Fair has until June 14 to respond to the plaintiff's request for discovery. That case has a trial date set for March 2025.
