Huron's best honored

HURON — The Huron Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual awards ceremony, Casino De Mayo, on May 3 at South Shore Marine in Huron. The event aimed to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of local businesses and individuals who have made noteworthy contributions to the community. During the ceremony, five distinguished awards were presented. Each recipient received a unique 3D-printed Huron Harbor Light lighthouse trophy as a symbol of their contributions. The winners: • Entrepreneur of the Year Award — Jennifer Findley of JF Organizing • Business Growth Award — Meg Corso of Exclusively BA • Community Services Award: Lynn Kedas of the Chris and Owen Kedas Memorial Foundation • Educator of the Year Award: Sandy Schuh of Huron Schools • Business of the Year Award: Pam and Anthony "Tony" Frank of Pied Piper In addition to celebrating local business achievements, the event demonstrated support for education through the awarding of scholarships to two Huron High School students, Lucy Watson and Brooke Randall. The evening began with an announcement from the chamber regarding its integration with the Greater Sandusky Partnership. Then chamber board president Bill Murray welcomed attendees and highlighted the chamber's appreciation for the Huron community and businesses. Following this, Duff Milkie, the partnership's board president, provided more details on the integration, emphasizing the enhanced resources available to members and the broader business community. Adding to the excitement, raffle baskets generously donated by local businesses and agencies were featured with high-ticket items including a Lake Erie Arms caliber membership and Cedar Point passes. Rock & Roll Express Entertainment Co. provided all entertainment, including music and casino games. Rock & Roll along with South Shore Marine helped transform the South Shore Marine showroom into a lively space for the event. The next event attendees can expect from the partnership in Huron is the Huron Lake Front Market, which will occur on June 7-8 in Huron.
