LAKESIDE-MARBLEHEAD— To celebrate the Biggest Week in American Birding, Lakeside Chautauqua will host several free bird-oriented lectures from May 6-10. Here's a look at some more notable events happening within the property: Monday, May 6 Warbler Warm-Up; It's a presentation by Matt Valencic and Kelly Stanek on how to identify birds by appearance and habitat. • When: 7 p.m. • Where: Orchestra Hall, West 2nd Street Tuesday, May 7 Owls of Ohio; It's a trivia-focused presentation by Jim Tomko on how to spot owls. • When: 7 p.m. • Where: Orchestra Hall Wednesday, May 8 The Lake Erie Landscape and the Flight Behavior of Migratory Birds; Crossing Lake Erie can be treacherous for migrating birds, so Bowling Green State University professor Verner Bingman will discuss the research he and his students have done on the topic. • When: 7 p.m. • Where: Orchestra Hall Thursday, May 9 Birdwatching on the Lake Erie Shoreline; Attendees will hike the trails and parks with Holly Marker while identifying birds passing through for the migration.
