Restaurant closes at Cedar Point

Park officials have confirmed the Melt location inside the park will not reopen in 2024. "The operating agreement between Melt Bar & Grilled and Cedar Point has expired, and we've mutually agreed to not renew," Tony Clark, a Cedar Point spokesman, told the Register. History lesson Opened in 2017, the Melt location inside Cedar Point has been bringing the restaurant's signature grilled cheese sandwiches and a long list of finely crafted microbrews to the amusement park audience. Cedar Point also worked with the chefs at Melt to create signature sandwiches and macaroni and cheese themes after roller coasters like the Chicken Vengeance Western Club or Maverick BBQ Pork. Guests also enjoyed visiting Melt inside the park for the atmosphere. In addition to the typical array of holiday blow molds throughout the restaurant, murals and artwork throughout the facility told the Cedar Point story. Many guests loved seeing the historic ride height signs and old maps of their favorite attractions. What's next for the location? While the park has not officially said what, if anything, will replace the Melt location, our guess is it might be prestigious. Cedar Fair is in a big push to provide benefits for those who upgrade to the prestige season pass. Up until now, guests got access to the tent site adjacent to Millennium Force. Outfitted with comfy chairs, televisions and fans, guests got the chance to unwind should that fit into their schedule. For 2024, Cedar Fair has been doubling down on the VIP lounge areas. This year, for instance, it took out a restaurant at sister park Kings Dominion and turned into one of the nicest indoor lounges we have seen them craft. This leads us to believe if Cedar Fair is willing to take out a revenue-generating facility in return for a lounge to entice higher-paying season pass holders, its signature park could soon be seen as an ideal target. With the removal of Melt, this opens up the possibility to turn the inside into a VIP lounge, complete with full-service bar, access to a kitchen and enclosed outdoor patio.
