PREP ROUNDUP: Danbury efficient in 4-1 softball win vs. Margaretta

DANBURY TWP. — Danbury made its four hits count in a 4-1 softball win against Margaretta on Tuesday. The Lakers scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning and added single runs in the fourth and fifth to take the SBC crossover matchup. Lakers pitcher Ellie Fish scattered eight hits and struck out four with just one walk. Danbury took a 1-0 lead in the second when Ella McDonald reached on the game's only error and scored on Miranda Evans' groundout. The Lakers made it 2-0 when Alera Masters scored on a passed ball. The Lakers took a 3-0 lead when Evans doubled in the fourth to score Charley Lenthe, who was hit by a pitch. Fish's RBI double in the fifth drove in Moriah Hatfield, who singled, with the final run. Elliana Young, Lilly Edwards, Skylar Colvin and Brooke Hastings each had two hits for the Polar Bears (14-8). Colvin drove in the Bears' only run.
