A jumping job fair

FREMONT — The Sandusky County Economic Development Corp., in partnership with Vanguard-Sentinel Career and Technology Centers and OhioMeansJobs Sandusky County, hosted the annual Sandusky County High School Student Job Fair. It occurred on April 26 at Vanguard. The event provided a platform for more than 300 students from all over Sandusky County to interact, network and interview with nearly 30 employers from various industries. This event proved to be a success with students having the opportunity to showcase their resumes and shake hands with potential employers. It served as an excellent opportunity for: • Students to gain insight into the job market • Employers to meet and recruit promising future talent The job fair "was a great opportunity for us to be out in the community interacting with the students and talking about the different aspects of banking and the career opportunities here at the bank," said Jeanette Eidenour of Croghan Colonial Bank, which participated in the event. "We love partnering with other community organizations to educate our youth and to help them get started on the right track for their future." Workforce development is a pressing and ongoing initiative of the corporation. It aims to address employment barriers and fill gaps in Sandusky County's workforce pipeline through various programs and outreach efforts. "Empowering our high school students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the workforce is crucial for the future of our county," corporation executive director Beth Hannam said. "The high school job fair provides an excellent opportunity for students to network and explore their options, ultimately paving the way for a brighter tomorrow in Sandusky County," Hannam said. Bio blast A nonprofit, the corporation is committed to promoting workforce development in Sandusky County through various initiatives. These initiatives aim to educate students and school personnel about the career pathways and job opportunities available in the county. Beyond the job fair, the corporation works closely with the Sandusky County Business Advisory Council to create programs, such as the: • Think Manufacturing Career Showcase for 9th-grade students • Business-based boot camps for teachers and students • Business-based bus tours for administrators, teachers and coaches These programs are designed to provide students and educators with valuable insights into the local job market and help them make informed decisions about their future career paths.
