Police: Man stabbed at local motel

SANDUSKY — A man was stabbed at a Sandusky motel over the weekend. After midnight on Sunday, a Sandusky police officer was at Firelands Regional Medical Center's emergency room investigating another matter when a male stabbing victim came in. The man told the officer there was an altercation at a motel in the 1500 block of Cleveland Road (U.S. 6), according to Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver. The victim, who was stabbed in the upper chest with an unknown object, said there was an altercation in a common area of the motel. When he tried to step in to stop it, he was stabbed. Through a preliminary investigation, officers learned the site of the stabbing and went to the motel to look for evidence and witnesses. They found where they believe the stabbing took place, and confirmed it was in a common area, Oliver said. Additional investigation was carried out later in the day on Sunday with the help of a translator. Officers were able to identify the alleged attacker and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to Oliver. He was treated at the hospital and released.
