PREP ROUNDUP: Bellevue bats knock down Tornadoes

TIFFIN — In a bounce-back effort from a 10-0 SBC Lake loss Wednesday to Clyde, Bellevue tallied 10 runs of its own Friday night in a 10-3 league win at Tiffin Columbian. Bellevue (6-6, 4-3 SBC Lake) started early as Ike Brown drove in Drew Dennings with a sac fly in the top of the first. Then the Redmen added four runs in the fourth, all with two outs. After Daniel Ochenduski, Grant Woodruff and Caden Lindsey all walked to load the bases, TC pitcher Bryce Roggow walked in a run, Dylan Barger ripped a two-RBI single up the middle and then Brown singled to left for another run. TC (9-7, 5-2) got within 5-1 after Taleb Al-Zakwani doubled down the third base line. He then stole third base and then ran home on a bad toss to third. But it didn't matter as Bellevue tacked on two more runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh. Overall, Barger had three hits and three RBIs for the Redmen, while Dennings doubled and drove in two runs. Winning pitcher Caden Lindsey singled and drove in a run. "Our plate approach was much better tonight, much better," Redmen coach Andy Dennings said. "We battled when we had to battle and we had some big at-bats in some key situations that extended some innings where we had all those runs with two outs. Proud of our kids, especially from it being such a different day than Wednesday." Cody Lindsey went 6 2/3 innings on the hill, allowing three runs (one earned) on nine hits. He fanned eight and walked three. "I thought he threw the ball really well, especially with some pressure pitches with some guys on base," Dennings said. "Really, he let our defense play. We made some good plays behind him. He did a nice job and he's been that way all year for us. He's been a bulldog for us." Perkins (9-7, 6-2) and Columbian (9-7, 5-2) now are tied in the league loss column, with Bellevue a game back at 6-6 overall and 4-3 in the Lake.
