Roshong announces campaign events

HURON TWP. — Alicia Roshong, the Democratic nominee for the Ohio House district that represents Sandusky and much of the local area, announced a series of public events to reach out to voters. Roshong, a Huron resident and an attorney and businesswoman, is the Democratic nominee for House District 89, which includes portions of Erie, Ottawa and Huron counties, including Sandusky and Port Clinton. She'll be running against the incumbent, state Rep. D.J. Swearingen, R-Huron, who won the Republican primary by defeating Steve Kraus. Roshong said her "Republicans for Roshong" event will be hosted from 5-6:30 p.m. on Friday at Lake Erie Arms, 9572 Milan Road (U.S. 250). Roshong said she is trying to make it clear she is the candidate "who transcends party lines." "My campaign is not about party politics, it is about the silent majority who long for sensible, grounded leadership," Roshong said. "I am here to serve as your voice in Columbus, to ensure that the government reflects the real priorities of our entire community." Roshong said she also plans to meet with voters in weekly "Coffee Chats," which will be on Thursdays in May and June. She also pledges that if she is elected, she will hold quarterly meetings to make it easy for constituents to communicate with her. She also describes herself as "the moderate voice." "I am not interested in being a popular politician," Roshong said. "My focus is to garner real results and effective leadership by doing the hard work, making the tough decisions, and truly reflecting the needs of our district in the state legislature. My only commitment is to you, the people of the 89th District."
