2 Bellevue men arrested on attempted murder

TIFFIN — Two men were taken into custody and charged with attempted murder following an incident on Saturday evening. According to Seneca County Sheriff's Office, Dylon M. Avery, 22, of Bellevue and Dakota L. Hay, 25, of Bellevue, were both charged with attempted murder and are currently in custody at Seneca County Jail. At about 5:40 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff's office received a call reporting shots fired near Beaver Creek Reservoir in Adams Township. Deputies arrived at the scene and learned there was "an altercation between several individuals at the reservoir," according to authorities. When the confrontation escalated, the unidentified victim tried to flee in a vehicle and "several other vehicles" pursued the victim. Victims and witnesses informed law enforcement that three shots were fired from a pursuing vehicle at the victim's vehicle, striking the victim's car. Bellevue police assisted Seneca County deputies in locating Avery and Hay, which Seneca County chief Deputy Charles Boyer said took about an hour. He also shared that, when the suspects were located, they requested attorneys. "The investigation is considered ongoing, and possible additional charges could be warranted upon the conclusion of the investigation," Seneca County Sheriff Fred Stevens said. There were no injuries reported in the incident, however, a gunshot round was embedded in the victim's vehicle. Authorities are working to determine the motive behind the incident and to locate the weapon.
