New principal hired for Clyde

CLYDE — During its meeting on Monday, Clyde-Green Spring Schools' board of education unanimously voted to hire Anthony Panfalone as its next high school principal. The search for the high school's new principal came after the current principal, Joe Webb, announced his retirement. After interviewing four candidates, it was decided that Panfalone would join Clyde at the beginning of the next school year, officially starting his duties on July 1. He will do so with a three-year contract and a salary starting at $100,500. "Anthony stood out with his clear vision for the school, collaborative leadership skills, understanding of the educational landscape and his community-minded outlook," Lucas Messer, the district's superintendent, said. "He also brings us new perspectives from his prior experiences and a fresh outlook as we continue to revolutionize the high school experience and offerings for our students." Panfalone has a history in education and has ties to Clyde-Green Springs Schools. He was a health and physical education teacher and a football and baseball coach at Clyde High School for three years and then took a position as Port Clinton High School's assistant principal. After Port Clinton, he moved to Bellevue and served as the middle school's assistant principal. "It's a community that takes a lot of pride in their schools," Panfalone said. "And that's something that was really important to me. It was something that really felt natural when I was here as a teacher and it's something I really wanted to get back to as an administrator."
