Pizza challenge winners announced

SANDUSKY — The annual Sandusky Rotary Pizza Challenge took place Wednesday at the Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky. This was the 22nd year for the event, which serves as a fundraiser for the club's Rotary Clothes Kids program. About a dozen vendors served up hundreds of pizzas to attendees during the event. "We would like to thank the residents of Sandusky for their continued support of this event," according to an event statement, noting this annual gathering has raised more than $250,000 to properly clothe 3,100 area children. On Thursday, Rotary members announced winners in various categories: People's Choice Award • First place: Cameo Pizza • Second place: Huron Pizza House • Third place: Chet & Matt's Pizza Pepperoni pizza • First place: Chet & Matt's Pizza • Second place: Cameo Pizza • Third place: Sandtown Munchies Specialty pizza • First place: Papa John's for its buffalo chicken pizza • Second place: Marconi's Italian Restaurant for its meatball pizza • Third place: Pizza House East for its Greek pizza All participating vendors received awards as well. Other than the aforementioned businesses, those also receiving recognition included Capizzi's Pizzeria, Domino's, Jim's Pizza Box in Huron, and Marco's Pizza.
