Sandusky will induct 2024 hall of fame class on May 4

SANDUSKY — Sandusky High School will induct its 2024 athletic hall of fame class on Saturday, May 4. The two teams that will be honored at the banquet in the school cafeteria are the 1990 football team and the 1959 and 1960 swimming freestyle relay team. Athletes who will be inducted include Jim Fantozz, Doresha Green, Kenya Graves Wagner and Bruce Parker. The Blue Streaks' 1990 football team, led by head coach Larry Cook, set a school record with 12 wins and advanced to the Division I state semifinals. Sandusky defeated Massillon in the state quarterfinals before losing to Warren Harding. The 1959 and 1960 freestyle swim relays both made the state finals and finished atop the podium once. Fantozz (class of 1973) lettered four years in track & field and one year in football. Graves Wagner (2000) won 10 varsity letters and excelled in volleyball, basketball and track & field. Green (2014) was a soccer, basketball and track standout who went on to set records at Bowling Green State University. Parker (2008) was one of three Blue Streaks to be named All-Ohio twice in football. He holds Sandusky's single-season and career quarterback sacks record. In addition to the athletes joining the hall of fame, Dennis Mateyka will be inducted as a Mylander-Hartung Coach and Community Member. With the new class, the hall of fame will grow to 187 athletes, 21 teams, 31 community members and 15 school officials. The induction ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. on May 4.
