Ashli Ford Facebook live interrupted by deputies

MILAN — A local woman was live on Facebook Friday evening when Erie County sheriff's deputies were knocking at her door. Link: Ashli Ford arrested "Unless they have a warrant, I'm not answering the door," Ashli Ford could be heard saying. "Because I've done nothing wrong." Ford, 38, of Milan, was talking on Facebook about the Erie County Health Department, asserting that she was reading from notes she took after talking with employees and former employees there who were complaining about their bosses. Her podcast ended after she told people watching it that deputies were at her door. "Please understand that I fear for my safety as multiple sheriff's deputies have flood lights shining on my home, they are looking in my windows with flashlights and are banging on my door," Ford posted at her page. "They are demanding that my daughter open the door for them. They have made no mention of a warrant, therefore they will remain there, unanswered." Someone inside Ford's home pointed a camera through a window and was live at about 9 p.m. Friday showing the flashing lights of deputy cruisers at the premises. Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth was unavailable for comment. Ford, who faces trial later this month in Norwalk Municipal Court on a falsification charge, views herself as a journalist, a podcaster, a genius and a person who has a knack for solving crimes and seeing corruption. In July, Ford met with then Norwalk police Chief Dave Smith for a 2½-hour interview during which she accused numerous public officials and others of wrongdoing. The falsification charge stems from statements she made during that interview. Ford in the last year has accused more than four dozen people, public officials and private individuals of wrongdoing. She saves screenshots and text messages she claims are evidence of criminal wrongdoing. During the interview with Smith, the chief attempted to explain to Ford that the court's standard of evidence was a higher standard than hers. More recently, she has made false and disparaging statements about a newspaper editor and a local judge whose court issued a protection order against Ford for a woman who was allegedly being harassed by Ford at Facebook. She's accused a local mayor, a law director, a safety service director, city council, an attorney representing the family of murder victim Amanda Dean, Dean family members, a police chief and numerous police officers and deputies of wrongdoing. In addition, she has accused numerous private individuals of wrongdoing and has stated that she has a collection of compromising photos of police officers that she pays people to provide to her. Numerous complaints have been made to Facebook and Patreon, another social media platform Ford uses, about the content she posts. Ezekiel Ford Sr. Ford did not respond Thursday when asked in a Facebook message if she was concerned that so many people were alleging she was defaming them with false information. She has complained at Facebook and to the sheriff when people post negative things about her at Facebook. In one post at Ford's page late Friday, Ford's husband can be heard forcefully telling a deputy to leave. "Get off the property. I'm on my property," he demanded. "Get in your car and get off this property, like right now."
