The buzz about Bizzz Ink

PORT CLINTON — Normally, tattoo parlors appeal to those 18 and older, shunning away anyone younger. Though Jordan Butler's business welcomes just about everyone inside. "This is just a family-oriented shop, bringing everybody together in a nonjudgmental zone," said Butler, a 2010 Perkins High School graduate. "I want to bring a safe, comfortable environment for people to come here, have a good experience and get good tattoos for a cheap price." Along with fellow co-owner Caleb Couture, Butler recently opened Bizzz Ink, 131 Maple St., Suite A, in Port Clinton. It's within a plaza behind McDonald's on East Perry Street (Ohio 163). Tattooing for nine years now professionally, Butler received his apprenticeship through Lake Erie Tattoo Emporium in Sandusky under Todd Nestor. "For me, it's not about the art so much as the stories behind the art," said Butler, who lives in Port Clinton. "It's about the why you are getting a tattoo and who you are getting it for and how it represents you." Butler, who offers many different styles and specializes in wording and color, boasts more than 250 tattoos himself. When asked which ones he's most partial to, he said, "Probably the scars on my face. They stand for 'protection warrior.' I studied Indian warpaint, and they are the most meaningful to me." "I also have one in honor of Stone Ambos," said Butler, referencing the 15-year-old Perkins High School student who unexpectedly passed away in 2018. "He was best friends with my little brother." Creating community While children can't receive a tattoo, they're more than welcome inside Bizzz Ink. Throughout the space, there's many features appealing to youth, such as a video game system, a foosball table and board games with more, like a pool table, on the way. "I want people to come here and bring their kids," Butler said. "If they don't have a babysitter, I want them to know they can come chill here for how long they'd like. You don't even have to get a tattoo. If you just want to come and hang out, you can do that. This is a little safe haven." Couture's family owns the nearby Chefsbest Catering and intends to host barbecues and cookouts each Sunday at Bizzz Ink. "We are trying to bring the community closer," Couture said. Butler also wants to piggyback off Couture's family business charitable actions by sponsoring area youth teams for cheerleading, baseball and football. "With everything that we are doing, we are looking out for the community," said Butler, adding how his shop is all-inclusive, catering to all. "We are friendly to everyone." People can visit Bizzz Ink from noon to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays, by appointment on Wednesdays and from noon until 11:59 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. "When it comes to tattoos, we will guarantee that the work and quality will be good, and you will receive free touch-ups for life," Butler said. "We also do site cleaning, so if you don't know how to take care of your tattoo, you can come back here and get it cleaned up. Just come on over and check out the community we're trying to create here." What's in a name?
