Friday begins a four-month-long initiative, called the Smiles for Charity Campaign, "which means dental patients can brighten a family's future just by visiting Stefano Dental in Sandusky," according to a statement from the business, 1617 W. Bogart Road, Sandusky. Employees noted how 100% of proceeds generated from teeth whitening procedures done during this time frame, up until June 30 at Stefano, will be donated to Safe Harbour Domestic Violence Shelter. Patients also receive a discount for this procedure when taking part in the campaign. Safe Harbour represents the area's only certified facility to directly protect, advocate for and empower victims, a majority being women. It offers safety, encouragement and support. Safe Harbour also provides shelter, counseling, advocacy, support groups and community awareness education. Throughout the years, Stefano Dental has donated thousands of dollars to many local charities with a teeth whitening program. "Giving back to the community has always been a part of my business model: give when you can," said Dr. Lata Stefano, who's the owner of Stefano Dental. Stefano then explained why this year's initiative benefits Safe Harbour. "Safe Harbour provides families in need with a safe place," she said. "Safety is something that most of us take for granted, and we should all be able to feel safe. We are happy to support Safe Harbour's mission and are inspired by what they do for our community, and we hope to encourage others to do the same." Hazel Foley, Safe Harbour's executive director, thanked Stefano for the company's commitment in supporting the nonprofit. "I am so excited to hear about this campaign," Foley said.
