Dept. selling eclipse shirts

MILAN TWP. — Milan Township fire is now taking orders for T-shirts the department made for the upcoming total solar eclipse. "We all know about the rare solar eclipse that is quickly approaching on April 8," according to a department statement. "These T-shirts were designed to showcase our newest (township) fire engine and the birthplace of Thomas Edison while also incorporating the once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse. Proceeds will benefit the Milan Township Firefighter's Association. Money coming to the association helps fund the department's community events along with equipment so firefighters can perform jobs in a more efficient and safer way. Some examples include firefighters: • Buying candy and passing it out during Halloween events • Purchasing educational materials for Safety Town, an education program tailored for children. People can purchase a shirt by visiting facebook.com/milantownshipfire and viewing a post made on Feb. 3. "T-shirts are only offered in short-sleeved black or white," the post read. "Allow up to three to four weeks for processing and handling."
