PREP ROUNDUP: Monroeville's Grace Stieber sets 3-point mark

SANDUSKY — Grace Stieber needed one 3-point basket to set Monroeville's single-season record and she got it. Stieber made two 3s Monday night and scored 23 points to lead the Eagles to a 44-24 nonconference win over St. Mary Central Catholic at the Kinzel Center. The junior guard has made 40 from long range this season, breaking the previous school record held by Ashlynn Tommas (2018). "I really like how Grace had a nice balance between attacking the basket and shooting the outside shot when it was open," Monroeville coach Ryan Bohn said. "She has had a very good season and I am happy that she was able to break this record." Ava Kruger added 12 points for Monroeville, which finished the regular season 14-8. The Eagles host Plymouth in a Division IV sectional matchup next Wednesday. Monroeville's 14 wins mark the third-winningest season in program history. SMCC was led by Natalie Peugeot (seven points) and Anna Smith (six). The Panthers (0-21) wrap up the regular season at home Thursday against Lakota. Lauren Ficker was the Sailors' only individual champion in the wrestling event, winning by fall in 5:49 at 105 pounds. Mya Reeves was the only other area champion, finishing first at 170. She recorded a pin in 1:25. Reeves went 4-0 in the tourney with four pins. Ficker was 3-0 with three pins. Clyde's Audrey Miracle was runner-up at 110 while Vermilion's Brooke Jenkins took second at 235. Gibsonburg won the team title with 140.5 points. Vermilion was second at 129 with Fremont Ross taking third with 93.5. BOWLING Streaks sweep Fliers FREMONT — Sandusky swept Clyde in SBC Lake Division action Monday at Plaza Lanes. The Sandusky boys edged the Fliers 2,218 to 2,207. Kole Reiman led the Streaks with games of 201 and 185 for a 386 series. Landen Ebeling added 171-202—373. The Sandusky girls avenged an earlier loss to the Fliers with a 1,952-1,931 victory. Jady Voegle led the Streaks with medalist scores of 191-173 for a 364 series. Makayla Popke rolled a 206-143—346. Kaylee Fantozzi had her highest game in her first year of bowling with a 191. The Blue Streaks are off until the OHSAA Northwest Ohio Sectional on February 22 (boys) and February 23 (girls) in Fremont.
