Starbucks extends lease in Sandusky

PERKINS TWP. — It's a "venti" or large week for Starbucks news in the Sandusky area. For starters, on Monday, a new drive-thru and walk-up location opened at Milan Road (U.S. 250) and East Perkins Avenue near Michaels and Goodwill Sandusky. Then, on Thursday, Hoty Enterprises announced a lease extension for another brick-and-mortar location further down on Milan Road by Meijer. At this location, Hoty owns the building and acts as Starbucks' landlord. Both sides came to terms on a 10-year deal, ensuring this Starbucks by Meijer remains at its current home through 2035. The previous deal would have expired at the end of 2025. "Starbucks has been a tenant there since 2004, and their business model has changed since then. (Starbucks) needs to update the flow of their operations," said Kula Lynch, Hoty Enterprises' corporate counsel. Lynch noted this Starbucks: • Will remain a full-service franchise • Must shut down sometime in the near future for renovations; It should fully reopen when the tourist season begins in May. The closure should last for about a month.
