Cassel Contriving all about quality

BERLIN HEIGHTS — Hunter Cassel believes he possesses the drive, determination and desire to succeed. But, as a young adult, the 2022 Edison High School graduate realizes he lacks a key skill. "I know I'm not as experienced as others," said Cassel, a Berlin Heights resident. "But, to counter that, I surround myself with people who are experienced so that I can learn from them, and I have." Cassel considers many locals — namely Ryan Riley of Tuck Pointing America in Norwalk; Mac and Mike Kegarise of Precision Paving; Dave Shupe of SealMaster; Bob Andrews; and Ed Barman — who have taught and continue to inspire him. "When you think you know everything, something will happen that makes you learn something new," Cassel said. "And there will always be someone better than you at the trade. That means there is always something for you to learn or get better at, and that's what I'm about." With motivation from his role models, Cassel recently decided to start his own business, Cassel Contriving. "I'll use what they taught me and continue to build relationships so I can keep getting better," said Cassel, who recently attended a business networking event in Florida to further progress his company. Cassel then gave some context into the "contriving" portion. "It's about quality," Cassel said. "Any job I do, I will bring about the most superior quality." Cassel specializes in three areas: • Asphalt maintenance — "I do seal-coating, crack-filling and striping for residential and commercial driveways, parking lots and private roads." • Excavation — "That would be for drainage, regrading and something like waterproofing a basement." • Masonry — "I lay bricks and blocks, natural stone, chimney repairs, tuck-pointing, foundation repairs and more.
