Spots available for Sandusky Rec programs

SANDUSKY — A six-week program for children that is starting next week has spots available and offers a hands-on learning experience. Sandusky Recreation's award-winning Midtown Supper Club will be entering its sixth season this year. Weeks of practice and preparation involving cooking, dancing and sewing will lead up to a dinner theater event next month. The event, which has a Starry Night theme, will serve as a fundraiser for the recreation department's youth scholarship program. Children had to apply ahead of time to be part of the Midtown Supper Club chefs in training. But kids can still sign up for the sewing and dancing programs. Youth with an interest in sewing can sign up for the Make It Sew Easy-Southside program. Participants will learn about tailoring and create something unique for the fundraising event. The sewing program is for children who are 10 and up. It is scheduled from 5-6 p.m. every Monday starting Feb. 12. The cost is $60. The inMotion with Morgan dance program is for children with an interest in the jazz/funk genre. The dance will include a fun glow-in-the-dark twist. Children age 8 and up can register for the program, which will take place from 5-6 p.m. every Wednesday starting Feb. 14. The cost is $60. People interested in attending the Starry Night dinner theater event on March 25, can purchase individual tickets for $30 or a table, with seating for eight people, for $220. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The menu is French-inspired. Visit cityofsandusky.com/recreation to register for the sewing or dancing programs or to purchase tickets for the fundraising event. The programs and dinner event will happen at Mills School, 1918 Mills St. in Sandusky.
