Majewski announces endorsements from Trump allies

SANDUSKY — Reaching out to Donald Trump fans as a 9th District U.S. House Republican primary looms next month, J.R. Majewski has announced a slew of endorsements from the MAGA movement. Majewski said Monday he now has endorsements from U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio; U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Florida Republican; U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, another Florida Republican; U.S. Rep. Cory Mills, also a Florida Republican; U.S. Rep. Eli Crane, an Arizona Republican; and Richard Grenell, ambassador to Germany and acting director of national intelligence during the Trump administration. Majewski also listed endorsements from Kash Patel, also an official in the Trump administration; Gen. Michael Flynn, known for his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, and Roger Stone, a political operative and Trump supporter convicted of seven felony counts in 2019 after an investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. The convictions were for witness tampering, obstructing an official proceeding and five counts of making false statements. Trump pardoned him in 2020. "It is an incredible honor to receive endorsements from so many America First fighters who understand that Washington needs strong leaders to fight against the radical left-wing policies that are destroying our nation," Majewski said. "I am grateful for their unwavering support, I will never stop fighting for the American people and I look forward to bringing back common sense policies that make the lives of the wonderful people of my district better, Majewski said. Majewski is facing off with three other Republican candidates in the March 19 primary: state Rep. Derek Merrin, R-Monclova Township; former state Rep. Craig Riedel of Defiance; and businessman Steve Lankenau of Defiance. The winner of the GOP primary will challenge U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Toledo, in the November general election. Majewski, who lives in Ottawa County near Port Clinton, was the 2022 Ninth District GOP nominee. Majewski's campaign committee, JR for Ohio, showed $123,062 of cash on hand in its most recent Federal Election Commission filing. Riedel reported about $542,000 in his campaign treasury at the end of 2023, while Lankenau reported about $13,000 in the bank. The Register was unable to find a campaign finance filing at the commission website for Merrin and asked Merrin about that. Merrin replied, in an email, "My campaign committee was not required to file one at this time."
