Report: Knife-armed man assaulted woman

SANDUSKY — A North Olmsted man is facing three felonies for allegedly assaulting a woman while holding a knife to her. Alex G. Serrano, 36, faces one count of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony; one count of kidnapping, a first-degree felony; and one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony. Last year, Serrano was indicted on those charges in Erie County Common Pleas Court, which stem from an incident that occurred at a home in the 1400 block of Campbell St. on Sept. 12, 2022. Police arrived at the home after a neighbor reported hearing someone calling for help, according to a Sandusky police report. When officers arrived, they noticed blood on the home's doorframe and floorboards and found a woman with injuries to her hands, face and midsection. The victim said that Serrano was in her home with another man. When the other man left, the woman said she asked Serrano to leave and said he then allegedly "went psycho, grabbed a knife and held it to (her) neck," according to the report. On Nov. 23, 2022, Serrano was arrested in the Cleveland area by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, the report states. The criminal case against Serrano currently sits in the Erie County Court of Common Pleas court. Serrano is incarcerated at the Mansfield Correctional Institution where he is serving a prison term of convictions of failure to comply and felonious assault out of Portage County, according to Ohio prison records. He has a pretrial hearing scheduled in Erie County for Feb. 6.
