Fremont amphitheater nearing completion

FREMONT — Construction of Fremont's new downtown amphitheater is close to completion. Officials expect to debut the outdoor venue, located at the intersection of South Arch Street and Birchard Avenue, by Jan. 31. Fremont Mayor Danny Sanchez said the project will significantly enhance the city's downtown area and create a space where people can gather and enjoy one-of-a-kind events, such as concerts. "We are beyond excited about unveiling this long-awaited addition to Fremont residents," Sanchez said. Sanchez said that funding for the project was made possible by a combination of federal dollars; state and federal grants; along with a donation from the city's rotary club. In total, the project's cost totaled about $3 million. "The outdoor amphitheater creates a hybrid experience of both arts and community connection while facilitating social interactions and providing an environment for family and friendly programs," Sanchez said.
