Katz Tires rolls into Sandusky

PERKINS TWP. — For Mo Fares, managing a tire business at a particular local storefront represents a full-circle moment. "About 15 years ago, traveling into Sandusky, I came to this very place to get a tire fixed, and I just was fascinated with it all," Fares said. "It's like fate: It's super cool to come back here. I always said, 'If I had the opportunity to know more about cars, I would love to work in a shop like this.' And now, I'm working here in my very own shop." Fares referenced a former automotive shop that eventually evolved into his family business, Katz Tires, at 1813 E. Perkins Ave. It's beside Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory. Katz Tires operates about 20 stores in Ohio with Sandusky as its latest. "Our family has spent a lot of time here," said Fares, noting his relatives own the Katz Tires line of businesses. "Me and my family want to move out here, and we really like the market. We love it here. The people are great and happy that we are here." Katz Tires offers many services related to wheels, tires, brakes and suspension as well as performing custom jobs, providing lift and level kits. Workers can also undertake minor mechanical work. People can stop by the business, open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, for more information. "We have the best prices and the best customer service," Katz said. "My staff here has great knowledge. Myself, I have been doing tires and automotive work for 12 years. I eat, sleep and breathe it. I love cars."
