Majewski picks up endorsements

SANDUSKY — J.R. Majewski has picked up some recent endorsements in his campaign for the Republican nomination in the Ninth District race for the U.S. House. Ohio politicians who have endorsed Majewski, an Ottawa County resident, include U.S. Sen. J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Frank LaRose. On X, aka Twitter, Vance wrote, "In 2022, national Democrats lied about @JRMajewski and his service record. Too many Republicans ran from these dishonest smears instead of fighting them. JR is running for Congress in 2024 and I'm proud to support him." During his unsuccessful race against U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Toledo, in 2022, Majewski was accused of exaggerating his service record when he was in the U.S. Air Force. Majewski recently produced a document showing that he has been recognized by the Air Force as someone who worked in a combat zone, backing his claim he was in Afghanistan. Majewski also has received endorsements from LaRose, and from Matt Gaetz, a Republican Congressman from Florida. Majewski's new campaign spokeswoman, Erica Knight, said GOP voters are rallying around Majewski. "We are very confident with the current momentum of the campaign and the Republicans rallying around JR know that he is the only one capable of defeating Marcy Kaptur in (2024). We are looking forward to continuing on the path to victory and representing (Ohio's Ninth Congressional District) in Washington," Knight said. Majewski is hoping to win the GOP nomination next year for a rematch with Kaptur, who is seeking another term. The GOP primary race has been enlivened recently with an online feud on X between Majewski and former state Rep. Craig Riedel, who lost a 2022 primary race against Majewski and also is running again. Riedel, pointing to Majewski's 2022 loss to Kaptur, describes himself as "the only conservative candidate in this race who will win and deliver 'Ohio 9' back to the Republican Party." Riedel endorsed Donald Trump for president on Dec. 8, in a statement pinned on X that refers to Majewski as a "proven loser." Majewski says he is the true MAGA supporter in the race. "Just to be clear. The people know I am with @realDonaldTrump. I don't need to convince them," he wrote on X.
