Support local shelter animals

PORT CLINTON — Give warmth and security to local shelter pets this holiday season by donating. The Humane Society of Ottawa County has recently implemented a new way to give back to local shelter animals in a fun and festive way. Through the end of December, the Ottawa County Humane Society has placed two giving trees at two local businesses, Bassett's Market and Miller's New Market. A third giving tree will be placed and sponsored by the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council at the Arts Garage. Each of the six-foot Christmas trees will contain multiple paper ornaments. Items needed by the humane society will be printed on the ornaments, and people can purchase the items listed and return them to the tree locations. Common items needed include cat and kitten food, paper towels, pet toys and gas cards. For ornaments that request monetary donations to pay for "dog or cat spay/neuter, veterinary tests, vaccinations or adoption fees," people should mail monetary donations to the Humane Society of Ottawa County, 2424 E. Sand Road, Port Clinton, OH 43452, in a self-addressed envelope attached to the ornament. List of Giving Tree locations: • Bassett's Market, 3994 E.
