Report: Victim tied up, kidnapped, pistol-whipped

SANDUSKY — Sandusky police arrested two city residents for their alleged roles in kidnapping a man, assaulting that person and then demanding a large sum of money before freeing the victim. Detectives, meanwhile, are actively looking for a third suspect involved in this incident, which took place Tuesday morning in the 1000 block of W. Adams St. Among those charged: • Julius Standifer, 36, 800 block Franklin St., with aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and kidnapping, all first-degree felonies • Amelia Grant, 39, 1000 block W. Adams St., with complicity to aggravated robbery, also a first-degree felony Anyone with information on the case and/or the third suspect, a man, can anonymously contact police by calling 419-627-5863. Alleged details A report along with details provided by Sandusky police Chief Jared Oliver offers more information about this reported incident: • Under false pretenses, two men, one allegedly being Standifer, lure the victim over to the West Adams Street residence. • The suspects then assault the man, which would include pistol-whipping him. They bind both his arms and legs in plastic zip ties. • The suspects then make a phone call to a woman, who becomes the incident's other victim. They demand she pay a substantial amount of money before freeing the tied-up victim. • One of the suspects travels to the female victim's home elsewhere in Sandusky, forces his way into the house, shows this woman how the other victim is tied up and demands the money. • She complies, and one of the suspects leaves that home with money and returns to the home on West Adams Street. • Before releasing the male victim, the suspects assaulted him further. • The male victim is freed and reports what happened to police. • Members of Sandusky police's special response team assist detectives and executed a search warrant at the residence in question on West Adams Street. It's there where they recover several pieces of evidence, including the zip ties, money and a pistol. Police then arrested Standifer and Grant, who allegedly played a role in this incident.
