Kicking off Christmas celebrations in Clyde

CLYDE — A Christmas-themed festival returns this weekend. The Winesburg Christmas Weekend comes back to Clyde starting on Friday through Sunday: • On Friday, the Clyde Monticello Masonic Lodge, 136 Hamer St., will host the Monroeville Model Train Display from 4-6 p.m. Several businesses will host retail specials. • On Saturday, the Northern Lights Parade will depart from Harvest Baptist Temple, 1022 S. Main St., at 6 p.m. and proceed through Main Street, ending at the intersection of Maple and Main Streets. — Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Clyde Fire Station, 222 N. Main St., following the parade. — In addition to the parade, there will be live ice-sculpting demonstrations, fireworks and the lighting of the downtown Christmas tree. — Earlier in the day, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the VFW 3343 Auxilary, 847 Maple St., and the First United Methodist Church, 510 W. Maple St., will host craft fairs. — From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Clyde Public Library, 222 W. Buckeye St., will host gingerbread-themed activities for kids. • On Sunday, events include free storytime with Mrs. Claus from 2-4 p.m. and a wreath-making class at 6:30 p.m. at Hidden Pines Christmas Tree Farm, 3829 Limerick Rd. From 10 a.m. to noon, Wild Brew, 100 S. Main St., will host donuts with Santa. There will be horse-drawn carriage rides and retail specials from local businesses throughout the weekend.
