Top Thrill 2 train to be unveiled

Cedar Point and Zamperla Rides are set to unveil the much-anticipated Top Thrill 2 roller coaster train at this year's International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo in Orlando on Tuesday. Top Thrill 2 will be one of the first roller coasters globally to feature Zamperla's groundbreaking "lightning" trains. Engineered with a focus on safety, rider comfort and cost-effectiveness, these trains boast an aluminum-milled chassis and a sleek carbon-fiber body, making them remarkably lightweight compared to others in the amusement industry. The innovation doesn't stop there. The unique polyurethane wheels are crafted to withstand the intense speeds of the ride, ensuring a smooth and safe experience. But what truly will make Top Thrill 2 stand out amongst roller coaster aficionados is its reimagined strata coaster design. The attraction is poised to redefine the coaster riding experience in ways park-goers have never imagined. With the title of the fastest and tallest linear synchronous motor triple-launch coaster, Top Thrill 2 will introduce a whole new level of excitement. The linear synchronous motor launch system delivers three thrilling launches: a forward launch from 0 to 74 mph followed by a crowd-pleasing rollback, a backward launch reaching speeds up to 101 mph on a 90-degree climb up a 420-foot-tall vertical spike and a final launch at the top speed of 120 mph, sending riders soaring over the top of the track standing at 42 feet, then culminating in a heart-pounding 270-degree spiral to the finish line. Top Thrill 2, currently under construction at Cedar Point, is expected to debut in the spring of 2024.
