Cedar Point reveals plans for site

SANDUSKY — Cedar Point has confirmed that the property located at 2206 Cleveland Road (U.S. 6) in Sandusky will be used as auxiliary human resources offices. Earlier this week, the Register shared the news that the former Firelands Auto Group dealership had sold the property to Cedar Point for the purchase price of $1.5 million. The site encompasses a bit more than 3 acres. Firelands Auto Group had opted to consolidate their locations, which prompted the sale. Currently, the Cedar Point human resources office resides in the parking lot adjacent to the marina and Famous Dave's restaurant. After human resources staff have been relocated to the off-site Cleveland Road property, this provides an interesting opportunity for the area. Back in 2019, the Register broke the news that the former Cedars dorms were being demolished, which has left the area undeveloped for a number of years. Should the former human resources building get demolished, this opens up additional area for redevelopment. While we can all start daydreaming about Cedar Point's next big power play, perhaps the most likely option involves pushing the perimeter road out closer to the marina, giving a nice piece of property that could then be brought into the park boundaries. At that point, then we might start to see the developable land for future attractions. The key factor impacting the redevelopment of this area would be accommodating the parking requirements for the marina needs. The decision to purchase the Cleveland Road property and use it for human resources is starting to make a lot of sense for future development on the property.
