Manny's makes major move

SANDUSKY — He's relocated his business before. But this latest change in address represents something special for Manny Jeffries. "I moved because I wanted my own space," said Jeffries, the owner of Manny's 100% Hand Car Wash. "This has always been my goal: to have my own building," he added. "I was tired of having to worry about if someone was going to move or sell the location I was at. Now, I'm at peace. I can do this the way I really want to." Jeffries recently celebrated the opening of his new car wash: 2219 Sherman St. off West Perkins Avenue beside KFC. Manny's previously operated from buildings on Sycamore Line (U.S. 250), Cleveland Road (U.S. 6) and within Sharpnack Sandusky on Hayes Avenue (Ohio 4). But the Sherman Street site "is perfect," Jeffries said. "It's right off where everyone needs to be," he added. "A lot of customers love the location. It's convenient. When they drop off their cars, they can go get something to eat or do something else because we are right at the center of town." Manny's still offers its many car cleaning services, consisting of car washes, details, buffing, waxing, ceramic coating and more. It also features snow removal for customers in the winter. The car wash does operate on a year-round basis. "The guarantee is we keep it so fresh and so clean at Manny's Car Wash," Jeffries said. "We will provide a good service." In the transition, Jeffries brought along his right-hand man, Jay Adkins, who serves as his store's manager. "I love everything about Manny," Adkins said. "He is a good boss and a great guy to work for. He actually saved my life." Adkins explained. "I'm a recovering addict. Manny gave me a job when no one else would because I'm a convicted felon," Adkins said. "Manny giving me this job, and him being an inspiration to me, made me stay on the right path. That's why I've been sober now for over two years." Jeffries, who's been sober himself for 22 years, appreciated the kind words. "I'm always trying to help people out," Jeffries said. "Jay is the best. He has come a long way. And, together, we are here to do the best job for our customers." People can drop by Manny's during its hours of operation: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. People can also make appointments for service on Sundays and Mondays.
