WEEK 10 ROUNDUP: Polar Bears win 51-22, end Willard's season

WILLARD — Margaretta eliminated Willard from postseason contention with a dominant, 51-22 win on Friday night. The Polar Bears improved to 6-4 (5-2 SBC River) to place third in the River Division. The Flashes finished the year 4-6 (2-5). Margaretta led 27-14 at halftime and didn't let up from there. The Polar Bears will go to a to-be-determined site for a road playoff opener. Hopewell-Loudon 19, Calvert 7 BASCOM — Calvert's Jacob Rombach took the first handoff of the game for a 68-yard touchdown. That was the last time Calvert scored. The Senecas had the ball inside H-L's 10 three times but didn't convert again as the Chieftains won their fourth straight SBC River Division title with a 19-7 victory. Braylon Martinez had TD runs from 6 and 7 yards in the first half for H-L (10-0, 7-0 SBC River) to give the Chieftains a 13-7 advantage at the half. While Calvert (8-1, 5-1) couldn't punch the ball into the end zone, H-L quarterback Evan Kreais found Blake Berrier with a shovel pass in the third quarter that he took to the house from 48 yards out. Dawson scored on runs of 10 and 30 yards in the first quarter, as Gavin Mackeigan kicked both extra points. Quarterback Hayden Keith added a 5-yard run to open the second quarter scoring, then Dawson added a 16-yard run as Western led 27-0 at halftime. Dawson added scoring runs of 63 and 10 yards in the third quarter, while Mackeigan added both extra points for a 41-0 lead. Dawson added a 1-yard run early in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring. South Central 41, Plymouth 13 PLYMOUTH — The Trojans stopped a six-game losing streak by steadily pulling away from the rival Big Red in the regular season finale. South Central closed the season at 2-8 overall (1-5 FC). The Big Red ended the season with eight straight losses and an 0-6 mark in the FC.
