Corporation commended

SANDUSKY — The Erie County Economic Development Corp. recently received the 2023 Excellence in Economic Development Gold Award from the International Economic Development Council. It obtained this honor, in large part, because local officials positively impacted the lives of Erie County residents, according to presenters. "The Erie County Economic Development Corp. has raised the bar for excellence in economic development with its business expansion (initiatives) and start-up guide," said Nathan Ohle, the council's president and CEO. "This award is a testament to the Erie County Economic Development Corp.'s dedication to its residents and serves as a great example of how economic development can help transform a community for the better," he said. Every year, the council recognizes organizations that have: • Demonstrated consistent and exemplary performance in the economic development profession • Led the execution of projects that have a significant impact on revitalizing communities • Played a major role in shaping and improving the practice of economic development Local officials thanked the council for acknowledging them in this light. "We are honored to receive the Gold Award from the (council) for our business expansion and start-up guide. This guide is designed to help businesses start, stay and grow in Erie County" said Nico Samaniego, the corporation's business development coordinator.
