Winsupply sets up shop in Sandusky

PERKINS TWP. — With his wholesale business, Troy Opfer takes a wholesome approach to ensuring people can find the best deals to improve their homes and businesses. Opfer, a 2008 St. Mary Central Catholic High School graduate, recently started his business, Winsupply of Sandusky. It's located at 6409 Milan Road (U.S. 250), Sandusky within the Home Brew Ohio complex. With more than 700 shops nationwide, Winsupply brands itself as a leading supplier of materials for residential and commercial construction. "But each and every location is locally owned and operated," said Opfer, who lives in Huron with his wife, Bethany, and their son, Jack. The couple are expecting another child. Opfer's store sells plumbing parts and fixtures such as sinks, faucets, toilets, showers, water heaters, sump pumps, backflow preventers and power tools as well as repair parts for nearly any brand. It's also heavily stocked with drainage parts along with plumbing-related pipes, valves and fittings "We are a plumbing wholesale supply house," said Opfer, who wrestled collegiately at Kent State University. "As a locally owned company within a large organization, we offer not only the pricing and selection of a large supplier but also the local decision-making and flexibility of a small business," he added. "I have the freedom to make my own decisions to serve my customers on a personal level." People can purchase these parts in the store, online or through delivery, which is available to surrounding counties. "With our main distribution center in Dayton, we are able to source material quickly to make sure our customers have what they need when they need it," Opfer said. "We will never say 'no' to a customer and will go above and beyond to come up with a solution to their problems." Before branching off on his own, Opfer got his start with Winsupply 10 years ago while working in Kansas City, Missouri. He spent the past eight years working for the company in Cleveland. Opfer's experience prepared him to open up his own location. "I have been running some of the largest commercial plumbing projects in the Cleveland Area," he said. Opfer has personally overseen work for various jobs at Progressive Field, Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, Sherwin Williams, the Cleveland Clinic and elsewhere. Opfer appreciates serving customers in his hometown and looks forward to people supporting his business. "I have experienced all job responsibilities within the business and continue to wear many hats on a day-to-day basis," Opfer said. "In a single day, I might be on sales calls with customers, on the forklift in the warehouse or delivering material myself in our delivery truck. I will be a lifer in this industry because I enjoy all aspects of it."
