Loris Printing lands big grant

SANDUSKY — The Erie County Economic Development Corp. recently partnered with a family-owned print shop to support its growth and expansion. Local and state officials collaborated with Loris Printing in Sandusky to obtain $50,000 in state funds through what's called the JobsOhio Inclusion Grant. The grant program assists projects in designated and eligible Ohio communities or businesses owned by underrepresented population segments. Pegged as a $150,000 overall investment, Loris Printing plans to use the economic development assistance to modernize its production facilities, streamline workflow and improve overall efficiency. "By incorporating cutting-edge technologies and optimizing their processes, they aim to provide even higher-quality printing services to their clients while maintaining their dedication to personalized customer care," according to an organizational statement. Loris Printing also plans on creating two additional jobs through this project. Because of these aforementioned reasons, the corporation "recognizes the invaluable contributions of small businesses to the local economy and is dedicated to fostering economic development within the region," the statement read. Loris Printing serves as a well-established printing company with more than three decades of industry experience. The corporation notes it's "been an integral part of the Sandusky community." "With their exceptional print services and commitment to customer satisfaction, Loris Printing has built a solid reputation as a reliable and innovative provider of print solutions," the corporation said. The corporation partnered with several organizations — including Team NEO, an entity supporting economic development throughout the northeast Ohio region — in providing technical support and guidance to assist Loris Printing with its expansion plans and further enhance its capabilities. "This assistance aims to help Loris Printing scale its operations, invest in advanced printing technologies and create additional employment opportunities for the local workforce," the statement read. Bio blast The corporation provides some insight into Loris Printing: A second-generation, family-owned business with deep roots in our community, Loris Printing started in the home of Joe and Kathy Loris in 1966. They soon outgrew that and moved to the corner of Warren and Scott streets in Sandusky. Debby (Loris) Hofer grew up working in the shop and Craig started full-time in 1994 shortly after their marriage. Debby and Craig purchased the business in 2006 and quickly grew. In 2012, Loris Printing relocated to its current location, 2111 Cleveland Road W., expanding to more than 9,000 square feet and 12 employees.
