1 arrested after fight at Cedar Point

SANDUSKY — Sandusky police arrested a teen on Sunday after a melee broke out at Cedar Point. At approximately 7:30 p.m., officers received a call of several people fighting near the front of the park. An officer and several security guards walked toward the scrum and observed people actively fighting. Video posted on social media showed at least ten people participating in the altercation. As the officer approached, the combatants dispersed, according to a Sandusky police report. The officer chased the subjects so he could identify them. He was able to detain one and after some resistance, was able to handcuff the teen. When the officer took the boy to a police cruiser outside of the park, he noticed the boy had a bloody nose so he was transported to Firelands hospital for treatment. Cedar Point security guards were able to view video of the incident and identified several of the others involved. The teen who was arrested was charged with persistent disorderly conduct fighting, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. The Erie County Juvenile Justice Center was contacted, and staff there advised that the boy could be released to a guardian. Police called the boy's grandmother, told her of the charges and said he could be picked up at the hospital.
