Feel angelic at Halo

SANDUSKY — At The Halo Beauty Lounge, Courtney Bergman wants people to leave on cloud nine, feeling as if they can float alongside angels. "I love to make people feel beautiful," said Bergman, Halo's owner and a 2002 Port Clinton High School graduate. "That's why I named it Halo. Halo rings are found on angels' heads," she explained. "And, with hair, that is the first impression many people have of you. So it's very important to me you look and feel good about yourself." To achieve this goal, Bergman recently opened her lounge inside the Marketplace Downtown on East Market Street in Sandusky. She moved to Sandusky three years ago and since sought to start a business in her adopted hometown. "We love downtown," Bergman said. "It has its own vibe, and we wanted to be part of the growth. This space is a healthy environment to cater to our clients and our stylists." Bergman brought on three stylists — Candace Dodd, Payton Herevia and Bri McDonald — to round out her team. "It's just a beautiful space," Dodd said. "But it's also very simple. I have a good relationship with these girls. I can also trust Courtney, as she's fun to be around and doesn't micromanage. She has the same spirit that I do." The salon only focuses on hair. It caters to both men and women, providing services such as cuts, extensions and coloring. "This isn't your average or traditional beauty salon. This is next level," said Bergman, who's previously cut hair for 19 years, primarily in Port Clinton. "It's very modern-day and up-and-coming," Bergman said. "It has a very urban feel in an intimate but luxurious space." The salon operates Tuesdays through Saturdays.
