Voltz gets prison

A former Sandusky city employee was sentenced to prison in Connecticut on Friday. Gregory J. Voltz, 36, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but 27 months suspended, according to the state of Connecticut judicial branch records. In other words, he'll serve a little more than two years behind bars so long as he abides by the terms of his probation. Additionally, he will also serve 10 years of probation. Voltz pleaded no contest to a charge of promoting a minor in an obscene performance, which is a felony in Connecticut. Newtown, Connecticut, police previously said that Voltz allegedly engaged in sexual activity with a child using a social media app. He was originally charged with enticing a minor, also a felony, and risk of injury to or impairing the morals of children, a felony Voltz will need to register as a sex offender once released from prison. Court documents received by the Register after his June plea agreement indicate he will have to report his addresses to the local sheriff for 10 years. A request for the sentencing report sent to the Danbury, Connecticut, court clerk was not fulfilled as of late Monday. Sandusky police arrested Voltz on March 17, 2021. He was then extradited to Connecticut to face the charges and was later released on a $300,000 bond. Voltz was employed as a city planner with Sandusky at the time of his arrest. He later resigned.
