Ironman street closures announced

SANDUSKY — Sandusky announced street closures for the upcoming Ironman 70.3 race. The event, which includes a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride and half marathon is set to start at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday. Here are some pre-race-day closures (starting at 6 a.m. each day): • The Shelby Street Boat Launch overflow lot will be closed beginning Monday • The Jackson Street Pier will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning Wednesday • The Paper District Marina parking lot will close beginning Thursday • The 100 blocks of Columbus Ave. and E. Water St. will be beginning Friday Parking restrictions for some downtown streets will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The restrictions end at 6 p.m. Sunday. The streets will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Streets affected by the bike course will have no vehicular traffic from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday. "All properties located along the run course were mailed a copy of the 2023 Traffic Impact Guide explaining the details of the street closures," according to a press release from the City of Sandusky. Water St. • 200 and 300 blocks of Perry St. • 400 and 500 block of Shelby St. • Decatur Street from West Shoreline Drive to West Water Street • Lawrence Street from West Water Street to West Market Street • West Adams Street from Shelby Street to Perry Street • West Madison Street from Shelby Street to Meigs Street. • West Market Street from Lawrence Street to Perry Street • West Water Street from Decatur Street to Lawrence Street Streets closed 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday: • Lawrence Street from West Shoreline Drive to West Water Street. • Pearl Street from West Market Street to Tiffin Avenue (U.S. 6) • West Shoreline Drive from Fulton Street to Lawrence Street • West Market Street from Shelby Street to Pearl Street • West Water Street from Lawrence Street to Shelby Street
