Spirit of Top Thrill underway

SANDUSKY — Things are about to start getting really interesting surrounding the site of the former Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point. This week, new supports and other metal items have arrived to the site across from the Cedar Point Express hotel. While guests do not have direct access to the storage yard, of course, Cedar Point's director of communication does, sharing a close-up photo of one of the support columns. Even though the park left the post pretty vague, it did include a unique new hashtag, "#CP24PHP," pretty much confirming its tie to the Top Thrill Dragster site. What's also interesting: The Twitter post was published at exactly 4:20 pm, consequently the exact same 420 feet peak height of the Top Thrill Dragster roller coaster. Shortly after the park opened for the 2023 season, all new footers were seen surrounding the infield of the Iron Dragon roller coaster. The large footers would help support the load of some type of structure. During the recent CoasterMania event, occurring in early June, Cedar Point gave attendees a unique keychain. Then at the question-and-answer session, a spokesman told guests they are going to want to hang onto them for the 2024 project. The unique thing about that logo was not only the shape but also the colors. Then, in recent days, workers have been seen throughout the site painting the support columns in the same dark gray colors as the keychain. Forward-thinking, could this mean the red color could be the future track colors? It is quite interesting to see how much work is taking place during the day when guests can view the area. With the new support columns now on-site, we might expect to see them start to go vertical in the coming weeks. Plus we would expect to start to see some teaser campaigns start to possibly go up on the fence surrounding the site ahead of an August announcement. Hang onto your hats, as it is going to start to get interesting.
