SANDUSKY This past week, 14 local students had fun at space camp at the Sidney Frohman Planetarium at Sandusky High School. While at camp, they learned about moon travel, space travel, constellations, planets and the galaxy. Students conducted experiments on making and measuring moon craters, simulated rockets, made parachutes and measured the speed at which they worked. HURON Huron resident Margaret Grespin earned summa cum laude honors upon her graduation this spring from St. Ursula Academy in Toledo. The summa cum laude level indicates a grade point average of 4.4 or higher and is the highest academic award given to graduates. Grespin was a member of St. Ursula's varsity swim team and the vice president of her class. She will attend Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, in the fall and is the daughter of Joseph and Mary Pat Grespin. MONROEVILLE From Monroeville FFA chapter reporter Anessa Ruggles: In May, Monroeville High School FFA members Chris Latterman and Kylee Ott received their state degrees at the 95th annual Ohio FFA convention. The state FFA degree is the highest award that the Ohio FFA can give a member. Each year, about 1,800 members, or about 3% of members, earn his or her state degree. The state FFA degree is awarded by state associations and is open to members in 11th grade or higher who are involved in chapter leadership, state–level activities and community service, and who complete a set number of hours of instruction and supervised agricultural experience growth and productivity.
