Don't be ashamed to seek help

SANDUSKY — As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, a local organization strives to encourage those struggling with mental health to seek help. Diane Taylor, executive director of the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services board of Erie County, spoke Tuesday on "Between the Lines Live." The 16-minute interview is available on sanduskyregister.com and the Register's YouTube channel. Taylor said the board wishes to break the stigma associated with mental health. "Our goal is to get the word out there. We have so many different resources available," Taylor said. Erie County residents' tax dollars fund the board. The money used supports a variety of mental health and substance abuse treatments for those who need them. "Taking care of one's mental health is just as important as physical health," Taylor said.
