SANDUSKY On May 22, Sandusky Central Catholic School fourth-graders enjoyed the beautiful day by reading in the sunshine in Washington Park in downtown Sandusky. PORT CLINTON Ten students attending Bataan Memorial Primary have been selected to have their art showcased in the Ottawa County Fair art show this summer. The art show is sponsored by the Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council and North Point Educational Service Center. The Ottawa County Fair's school art exhibit will be on display from July 17-23 in the Exhibition Barn. Ribbons for the 2023 art exhibition will be awarded to first, second and third place entries, as well as participation ribbons. "Please come out to the fair and appreciate our awesome artists from Bataan Memorial Primary School and their creations," Bataan Primary art teacher Heather deHaas said. CASTALIA Margaretta High School students enrolled in an environmental science class recently traveled to Ohio State University's Stone Lab on South Bass Island and Gibraltar Island. The day included touring the facilities, fishing off the docks, plankton identification under microscopes, bird identification hike, a boat cruise to water and fish data and a special visit from a friendly Lake Erie water snake. A highlight of the trip was putting out a trawling net on the cruise and students identifying and handling the fish brought in. ERIE COUNTY Allison Blevins, a 2023 Huron High School graduate, is the recipient of a$ 1,000 scholarship from the Delta Lambda chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, a worldwide organization for women educators. Allison plans to major in early childhood education at Bowling Green State University. She is the daughter of Roger and Jennifer Blevins of Huron. Allison's honors and activities in high school and the community include student body vice president; National Honor Society vice president; student council; Mentor health ambassador; Teen Leadership Corps; Four-time varsity letter recipient in cross country, First-time varsity letter in track in 2019; First team all-conference cross country in 2022; State qualifier for cross country in 2022; School record holder in track; Third place in indoor state track championships; Huron High Troubadours (a select a cappella group); Chorale; Co-organizer of Care & Share clothing drive; Volunteer at OHgo Project Happy; and mentor at STAR Leadership Camp. CLYDE • Members of Clyde High School's Teen Leadership Corps program attended the senior prom for residents of The Willows at Bellevue. The students escorted residents on the red carpet as the residents' names were announced while entering the prom.
