Sandusky County events happening in June

A variety of events will be hosted in June all throughout the county. Here's what people can expect: June 3 – Beginner Archery A free basic archery class will be hosted at Wilson Nature Center, 720 South Main St., in Lindsey from 3-4:00 p.m. Due to the nature of the activity, participants must be at least 10 years old. Registration is required and can be done at www.lovemyparks.com June 3 – Gibsonburg Fishing Derby Gibsonburg will be hosting its annual fishing derby at Williams Park, 410 E Stone St., beginning at 9 a.m. The event is free and open to both kids and adults. Prizing will be awarded for largest fish, smallest fish and most fish caught. June 4 – Mayor's Concerts in the Park: Stranger than Fiction A free concert will be hosted at Birchard Park, 1316 Croghan St., in Fremont at 7 p.m. The concert is subject to cancellation before 4 p.m. due to rain. June 5‐8 – SJCC Girls Youth Basketball Camp (4th‐8th Grade) Saint Joseph's Central Catholic will be hosting a girls' youth basketball camp at 702 Croghan Street, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The camp is open to incoming 4th-8th graders and will focus on the fundamentals. June 6 – PAX Tools for Human Services Training Sandusky County Public Health will be hosting a PAX tools training at 2000 Countryside Dr. in Fremont from 6 -8 p.m. PAX is a collection of tested, trauma-informed strategies to help improve self-regulation in youth. Usage of the tools may help create a nurturing environment. June 9 – Comedy in Clyde with Connie Ettinger Copper Whale Winery, 1734 E. McPherson Highway, will be hosting its monthly comedy night at 8 p.m. The show will star Connie Ettinger and feature Wayne Memmott. Tickets can be purchased at www.copperwhalewine.com/comedy. June 10 – 44th Annual Camelback Run Fremont Elite Runner's Club will be sponsoring several runs at 702 Croghan St. beginning at 8 a.m. There will be a 10k as well as a 5k, 2k and a ¼ mile youth race. June 10 – City of Fremont Junk Drop off Day Residents of Fremont will have the opportunity to drop off unwanted bulk junk from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until dumpsters are full at 712 North Street. Residency must be proven through a driver's license or current water bill. Residents are responsible for unloading their own items, no electronics, hazardous household waste, yard waste, tires, appliances or lead acid batteries will be accepted. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums will be collaborating to host an all-skill level yoga event at 9 a.m. at Spiegel Grove. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for Yoga Haven studio members. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums will be hosting a tour of the plant life of Spiegel Grove at 10 a.m. The tour will highlight the different trees of President Hayes' estate, Spiegel Grove, in Fremont. June 10 – Guns to Gardens St. Paul's Episcopal Church will be hosting an anonymous drive-thru gun buy-back from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 206 North Park Dr. An on-site blacksmith will turn guns into gardening tools. June 10 – Spiegel Grove Squires home game The Spiegel Grove Squires will be playing a period-accurate baseball game against the Pluggy's Town BBC at 1 p.m. at Spiegel Grove. The Spiegel Grove Squires are a baseball team that plays the game as it would've been played in the 1860s. Admission is free, and more information can be found by calling 419-332-2081. June 10 – Cruise in Rockabilly & Swing 2023 Car Show Copper Whale Winery will be hosting a vintage car show at 1:00 p.m. at 1734 E. McPherson Highway. The show is open to all cars, trucks and motorcycle equipment. There will be music from the Pinup Project as well as the Tot's Tatoes Food Truck. State St. Breakfasts are $7 and include pancakes, ham, eggs and a beverage. Both eat-in and pick-up options are available. Tickets can be purchased from Lions Club members or at the door. June 14 – Sandusky County Historic Jail & Dungeon Historical Tour A guided tour of the Sandusky County historic jail will be held at 5:30 p.m. at 622 Croghan St. The tour will focus on the 1892 Sandusky County jail, the 1840s dungeon under the Sandusky County courthouse and the gallows exhibition hall. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door or online at www.sanduskycounty.org. June 14 – Trees Named in Honor Tree Tour Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums will be hosting a tour of Spiegel Grove, the president's estate, that focuses on the trees that have been named in honor of individuals at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for non‐members are $10 for adults, $7 for ages 6‐18, free for ages 5 and younger. June 14 – Verandah Concert with the Fostoria Community Band Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums will be hosting an ice cream social at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Verandah concert at 7 p.m. at Spiegel Grove. Admission is free and donations will be accepted. June 14 – Sandusky County Historic Jail & Dungeon Flashlight Tour A flashlight tour of the Sandusky County Historical Jail and Dungeon will be held at 6:30 p.m. at 622 Croghan St. Each guest will be loaned a flashlight to take on the tour to help make their way through the darkness. The one-hour tour is not recommended for children. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door or online at www.sanduskycounty.org. June 16 – A Night of Music on the Lawn The Chris Buzzzelli Quartet will be performing a soft jazz concert at 6 p.m. at 124 W. Buckeye St in Clyde. Attendees are asked to bring their own chairs. Drinks and snacks will be provided. June 17 – Downtown Fremont Farmers Market & Car Show A free farmer's market and car show will be hosted from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 105 S. June 18 – SCAC Chicken BBQ The Clyde Future Farmers of America will be hosting a Chicken Barbecue Lunch from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sandusky Fairgrounds, 901 Rawson Ave., in Fremont. June 18 – Comic & Toy Show Copper Whale Winery will be hosting its 3rd annual Comic & Toy show from noon to 8 p.m. at 1734 East McPherson Highway, Clyde. The event will feature Josh Alen Foreign Comic Magazine, Rupp's Comics and the Digital Comic Museum. Archie's Pizza food truck will be present. The camp is open to incoming 3-8 grades. Campers will focus on basic football skills and fundamentals. Camp is $20 and campers will receive a football camp T-shirt. Stone St. The event includes a beer tent and is hosted by the Gibsonburg Volunteer Fire Department. Homecoming Fireworks will be at 10 pm on June 24. June 22 – Beat the Heat Sandusky County Children Services, Humane Society of Sandusky County and the Sandusky County Dog Kennel will be hosting their sixth annual Beat the Heat event from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Sandusky County Fairground Parking Lot, 712 North Street, in Fremont. Local celebrities will sit in hot cars to raise public awareness of the dangers of leaving children or pets in an unattended parked car in the heat. June 24 – Woodville Farmers Market The Woodville Farmers Market will be hosted from 9 a.m. to noon at Trail Marker Park, 308 S. Cherry St., Woodville. Hayes Presidential Library & Museums will be hosting a free nature-based event at Spiegel Grove from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event features hands‐on activities and crafts with regional nature organizations. Ice cream and popcorn will be available. Visitor parking is off‐site only with the exception of those with handicapped tags for their car. June 24 – Paint to End Alzheimer's Schedel Arboretum and Gardens will be hosting a charity event to benefit Alzheimer's research from 2 -5 p.m. at 19255 W. Portage River S. Rd. in Elmore. There will be prizes, food trucks, and live music at 7 p.m. by "Cruisin'."
