Everclear set for Bike Week

SANDUSKY — Alternative rock band Everclear is scheduled to be the Friday night headliner during Ohio Bike Week's block party. Fronted by guitarist Art Alexakis, the quartet was founded in Portland, Oregon, more than 30 years ago. Everclear has sold more than 6 million records and has had 12 top 40 hit songs. The single, "Santa Monica" from the band's "Sparkle and Fade" album reached the top of Billboard's mainstream rock chart in 1995. The band's other major hits include: "Father of Mine," "I Will Buy You A New Life" and "Wonderful." Everclear was part of the alternative rock wave of bands from the Pacific Northwest that exploded into mainstream success in the early 90s. The current lineup consists of Alexakis (vocals, guitar), Davey French (guitar), Freddy Herrera (bass) and Brian Nolan (drums). Everclear has had one Grammy nomination. "El Distorto de Melodica" from the "Afterglow" album was nominated for best rock instrumental. Though that song did not win, the band won Billboard's Modern Rock Band of the Year award in 1998. "Black Is the New Black" is the band's most recent studio album. The 11-track, 2015 offering peaked at No. 22 on Billboard's Top Rock Albums chart. The band's debut album, "Word of Noise" was recently remastered and reissued in 2022. Six bonus tracks joined the original 12 songs on the album. Want to go?
