Free concerts coming to gazebo

SANDUSKY — The Sandusky Community Celebrations Council, a volunteer committee planning and organizing free community events, recently announced this summer's outdoor concert schedule. Known as the Gazebo Concert Series, it's sponsored by Zion Lutheran Church. Concerts take place in Washington Park's gazebo in downtown Sandusky. "If the weather is challenging for the concert, then the event will be held inside Zion Lutheran Church, located at 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky," according to an organizational statement. Here's a look at the schedule. Note: All events occur on Tuesdays • 7 p.m. June 13 — North Coast Concert Band • 7 p.m. June 20 — J-Markz • 7 p.m. June 27 — Bob Cox Friends • 11 a.m. July 4 — Sandusky Choral Society • Noon July 4 — Sandusky High School Marching Band and the children's bike parade • 1 p.m. July 4 — Lange Trust of Sandusky Library's "Squonk Opera" • 2 p.m. July 4— Jaron White Trio • 3 p.m. July 4 — Lange Trust of Sandusky Library's "Squonk Opera" • 7 p.m. July 11 — Dana Dorsey and the Blue Notes • 7 p.m. July 18 — Firelands Brass Quintet • 7 p.m. July 25 — Pantasia Steel Drum Band • 7 p.m. Aug. 1 — North Coast Big Band • 7 p.m. Aug. 8 — Erie County Ohio State University Alumni Band A look ahead The Stars and Stripes Old Fashioned July 4th Celebration, sponsored by Civista Bank, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on July 4 at Washington Park. Interested groups who would like to participate can pick up applications at Civista Bank's downtown Sandusky branch. The council also plans and organizes the Holiday Lighting Ceremony, which is sponsored by Firelands Federal Credit Union. This traditional holiday event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 in Washington Park. More details will be announced in the future. "Thank you to the community for supporting our annual events," according to a council statement. "With the support of each sponsor, we can offer these events free of charge for your enjoyment. Sandusky will be alive this year with events being offered throughout the summer and fall months. Plan accordingly to make the most out of each and every day. Thank you."
