Live music all around for Bike Week

SANDUSKY — It's bound to be a rocking 10 days on Lake Erie's shores when Ohio Bike Week returns to Sandusky. From May 26 to June 4, thousands of bikers from all over the country will come to the area to participate in group rides, see vendors and rock out to live music. Ohio Bike Week's popular Downtown Block Party returns to the Jackson Street Pier on June 1-3 with a strong lineup. This year's Block Party features perennial favorite Jackyl with notable new additions including Everclear and Quiet Riot. Block Party admission is free, though VIP tickets are available at ohiobikeweek.com/blockparty. Block Party headliners Here's who's performing (show times are to be announced, check the Ohio Bike Week website for updates): June 1 — Jackyl • Genre: rock • Members: Jesse James Dupree, Jeff Worley, Chris Worley and Roman Glick • Summary: This Georgia-based band has released nine albums during its 30-plus-year tenure in the music industry. Their music has been described as heavy metal and hard rock. The band's self-titled album went triple platinum, touring with other bands such as with Aerosmith and KISS. June 1 — Saliva • Genre: rock/heavy metal • Members: Bobby Amaru, Brad Stewart and Sammi Jo Bishop • Summary: Hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, this band had only played six shows before being noticed by major record labels. About 25 years later, the band still tours and records with its most popular release being their 2001 album "Every Six Seconds." June 2 — Everclear • Genre: alternative rock • Members: Art Alexakis, Dave French, Freddy Herrera and Brian Nolan • Summary: Everclear found success in the mid-1990s nearly overnight and has made nine studio albums since. Originally formed in Portland, the 1997 album "So Much for the Afterglow" sold 2.2 million copies in the U.S. The band now celebrates 30 years of music. June 2 — Sponge • Genre: alternative rock • Members: Vinnie Dombroski, Kyle Neely, Andy Patalan, Tim Patalan and Dave Coughlin • Summary: Originally from Detroit, this alternative rock band formed in 1992. The single "Plowed" from its first album "Rotting Piñata" reached No. 5 on the U.S. Billboard modern rock chart. Its most recent album "Lavatorium" was released in 2021. June 3 — Warrant • Genre: glam metal • Members: Erik Turner, Jerry Dixon, Steven Sweet, Joey Allen and Robert Mason • Summary: Most widely known for the top 10 hit "Cherry Pie," this Los Angeles-based band has nine albums and nearly 40 years in the industry. International sales have reached approximately 10 million. June 3 — Quiet Riot • Genre: heavy metal • Members: Rudy Sarzo, Alex Grossi, Jizzy Pearl and Johnny Kelly • Summary: Formed in 1973, Quiet Riot made history by releasing the first heavy metal song to ever crack the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. The 1983 album "Metal Health" reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling more than 10 million copies.
