Cedar Point exceeds expectations

SANDUSKY — Thursday was Cedar Point's annual media day, providing an opportunity for area reporters to preview all of the new enhancements and rides that Cedar Point worked on in the offseason. I wasn't sure what to expect walking into Cedar Point's new Boardwalk, but I feel as though whatever expectations I had were exceeded. The newest attraction, Wild Mouse, was the first thing that stuck out to me while walking toward the line to enter the park. When I heard about this ride and knew that it was aimed toward kids, I expected to be going on a ride similar to the kid roller coasters I rode as a child such as Woodstock Express or Junior Gemini. But I was quickly mistaken as soon as I went on the ride. The ride had thrilling hills and sharp curves that made me feel like I was gonna fly off of the ride, not to mention the fact that the cart you ride in spins freely with these curves, making everything feel a little more unexpected and fun. I think this will be a great ride for the kids who are getting excited to check their heights at the front of the park to see what roller coasters they can go on this year, happy to see that there is a new exciting ride available to them. The next thing I noticed which was next to the Wild Mouse is the new development named the Grand Pavilion. It is a beautiful two-story building with a very welcoming interior. Inside on the first floor is a nice open space, and in the middle of the room are the lines to order food. I had the chance to try out the food that would be served there, and it was pretty great. I tasted the turkey, steak fries, key lime pie tart, chicken fingers, and funnel cake fried shrimp. The turkey, chicken, fries, and tart were all delicious. But I was not so much a fan of the shrimp. Upstairs is the new bar where they were serving mocktails to anyone there that day. There was also some nice indoor seating as well as access to the outdoor patios for seating in the sun with a view of the beach, water, park and the new roller coaster. I'm really excited to see how this newly improved area of the park does when Cedar Point opens. I think it will help bring attention to that area that wasn't there before with all of its new thrills and treats.
