PREP ROUNDUP: Blue Streaks, behind Harvey and Baker, rout Bowsher

TOLEDO — Mason Harvey pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts, and Elijah Baker delivered four hits to push Sandusky (3-2) above .500 with a 17-5 baseball win at Toledo Bowsher on Friday. "It's definitely a good sign," Sandusky coach Zack Moots said. "We know we're a younger and inexperienced team. Some guys have stepped into roles and we're getting better as we go." Harvey, a junior, allowed five hits and three earned runs on the mound while striking out nine. He was also 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and three RBI. "Bounced back from that game against Perkins," Moot said. "His fastball was on. They were calling low strikes and he was just pounding it right at their knees all day." Baker finished 4-for-5 with two RBI and five runs scored. He also stole six bases. "He's stayed hot," Moots said. "I haven't done official stats with our last couple games, but he's gotta be above .500 right now." Dekyar Inciarte delivered a two-hit day for the Blue Streaks and drove in three runs. "We brought him up against Vermilion the other night," Moots. "He's from Venezuela. This is his first year at Sandusky. We just kind of wanted him to get acclimated and have some success JV-wise, and he's been stroking it down there, so we gave him a shot. Today, just his first two at-bats had two nice swings." Landon Parker added two RBI. Sandusky is back in action at home Monday against Bellevue before traveling to Norwalk on Wednesday in a pair of SBC Lake Division games. It was the second win in as many days for the Redmen, who improved to 3-3. Drew Dennings and Kaden Cramer each joined Claus with two-hit days. Huron jumped out to a 4-1 lead before Claus started the comeback with an RBI double in the fourth. The Redmen took the lead with a five-run fifth. All eight of Huron's runs were unearned. Cody Lindsey worked the first four innings, striking out eight. Logan Damron struck out five in 2.1 innings out of the bullpen, and Sam Hosang retired the only two batters he faced to end it.
